Co-Centric™ Optics
Co-centric optics refers to Stingray Energy Systems’ unique, patented approach to luminaire design. Our co-centric optical systems employ two reflectors (inner and outer), centered and co-aligned with the lamp axis. Both reflectors are precision designed and manufactured to efficiently produce photometric distributions that are smooth, consistent and free of luminous striations, rings or hot spots when projected onto surfaces. Their individual light distributions are also designed to be spatially complimentary to one another when used in rows or rectangular arrays throughout a broad range of relative adjustment. The result is an unparalleled level of versatility and performance that’s changing the way industrial lighting is done. With co-centric optics, Stingray’s customers experience dramatic, industry-leading energy savings while actually improving their lighting quality.
Stingray’s co-centric optics provide an extremely broad range of photometric distributions that can be smoothly and intuitively adjusted from narrow through wide with minimal effort and no tools. This unmatched level of versatility allows clients to customize and reconfigure their lighting systems as necessary to suit individual and changing needs (see Tailored Lighting below).
The unique configuration of the co-centric reflectors can also provide a ventilation path for heat removal and cleaning without loss of light (EXC product). The result is cooler running performance (extended component life) and an optical system that cleans itself by virtue of convective air currents known as the “chimney effect”. Air enters through the aperture, becomes heated by the lamp, and rises to exit through the top of the outer reflector where the light path is eclipsed by the inner reflector. This continuous cycle draws contaminants away from the lamp and optical components resulting in improved performance over time and relatively fewer required cleanings.
Co-centric optics is an innovation pioneered by Stingray Energy Systems and a core company technology.
